Life In The Time of Coronavirus

A Few Simple Thoughts…

Life in the time of Coronavirus

Be grateful.
Be mindful.
Be prepared.
Be human.

MINDSET // BE GRATEFUL

  • This too shall pass.  We’ve survived far worse.  We will survive this.

  • Be prudent.  Be informed.  But do not give in to hysteria.

  • Life changes.  That’s a good thing.  This is an opportunity.  Be thankful for every moment.

GIVE AND TAKE // BE MINDFUL

  • WHAT YOU TAKE IN

    • CONSUME THE GOOD // Consume good and healthy things that build you up

      • Healthy food.  Good content (books, TV, Film, video, podcasts, online courses, etc.).

      • Be informed with real information from real experts, not hot air.

    • LIMIT THE JUNK // Limit “junk food” (physical and otherwise)

      • It looks and tastes good--but has little-to-no actual value. Limit the junk!

      • N.B. - Do not become a news junkie. The 24-hour-news cycle was not created for you.  There is a law of diminishing returns.

    • AVOID THE POISON // UTTERLY AVOID poison

      • Looks and tastes like food--but is poison.  DO NOT BE FOOLED.

  • WHAT YOU GIVE OUT

    • Help someone else. Call them. Text them.

      • Someone with young children? Who may be “homeschooling” for the first time. What is a creative, and prudent, way you can help?

      • If it is someone in a high-risk demographic (underlying health conditions, respiratory issues, 55+, etc.), can you send them a useful item during this time?  Can you go shopping for them? Can you take them shopping?

      • Thinking of someone other than yourself and doing something concrete for them is a great way to deal with anxiety, isolation, and loneliness, both yours and theirs.

    • This is an opportunity.  Read that book.  Write that letter.  Make that call. Create that business plan.  Record that song. Paint that picture.

THIS IS REAL // BE PREPARED

  • Be hygienic.  Have essentials.  Do not hoard.  Be prepared.

  • Be prepared for the ups and downs of stormy weather.

    • Friday (March 13th) was the best day in the stock market in 12 years.  A few days later (March 16th) was the worst single point drop in decades.

    • Apple has re-opened all of its China stores (where Covid19 originated), but closed all other stores.

    • Churches in Rome were closed on Wednesday.  Churches in Rome were opened again the following day.

  • There’s no rulebook for this. Be prepared. This is an adventure.

BE HUMAN // LAUGH

Be ok with different.  Embrace the different. This is an adventure.
